Future Clearer For Martin

Mark Martin told reporters today at Dover International Speedway that he plans to run a full-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Schedule and 10-12 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup races - in the No. 60 No Fear Racing Ford – in 2007.

"I can’t imagine any other scenario for me in 2007 but racing the No. 6 truck and I’m actively working right now to try to secure sponsorship for the 60 car for 10-12 races. It’s not done, but that’s where the focus is as of today," said Martin.

The No. 60 car is owned and operated by No Fear founder and CEO Mark Simo, veteran NEXTEL Cup crew chief Frank Stoddard and road-racing champion Boris Said. They began operations in June of this year and have competed in four races so far this season (Fontana, Daytona, Indianapolis and Watkins Glen).

Currently, Roush Racing provides technical support, engines and cars to the startup organization – making it a natural transition for Martin, a longtime member of Roush Racing.

"I really do want to do a limited Cup schedule to complement their truck program that they’re gonna offer me," said Martin. "That’s where we are today."

Heading into this weekend, there had been constant speculation that Martin could wind up driving the No. 88 Ford for Robert Yates Racing full time next season. However, the driver of the No. 6 AAA Ford was clear that his "heart is not in a full-time deal."

"The terms of the contract are agreed upon. We don’t have a problem with that. I think all of that is agreed on and now it’s just a matter of getting it on black and white and getting it structured the way we want it and all that stuff, and pursuing sponsorship, which really hasn’t started until this week."
