Home Again In Indiana

Maybe some home cookin' is just what Tony Stewart needs.

Sunday's Allstate 400 at the Brickyard will bring the defending NEXTEL Cup Series champion back to race in his homestate of Indiana and a chance to relive the thrill of his emotional win in last year's race.

"Winning the Brickyard 400 was probably one of if not the biggest highlights of my career," Stewart said. "I'd love to win it again."

Stewart needs a good day after the controversial weekend in Pocono at the series' last race on July 23rd. His incident with Clint Bowyer and subsequent penalty set off fireworks around the NASCAR garage with a war of words erupting between Stewart, Bowyer and Carl Edwards, who was caught up in the aftermath of the on track scuffle.

Stewart came back to finish seventh in the Pennsylvania 500 and took full blame for the accident - and his actions.

"I'm taking 100 percent responsibility for the final incident that occurred on lap 32 between myself, the 07 (Bowyer) and the 99 (Edwards). It was totally my fault," Stewart said in a statement issued a day after the Pocono race.

Stewart wants to put the controversy behind him and concentrate on the matter at hand, which is solidfying his spot in the "Chase for the NEXTEL Cup" race.

After falling out of the Top 10, Stewart's rally to finish seventh at Pocono slid him back to the tenth and final transfer spot with six races to go.

"I never doubted we'd be back in the top-10 one week after we got out," said Stewart after the Pocono race. "I'm not worried about it. Everybody else seems to be more worried about the top-10 than we are because we know we're a top-10 team. We just need to do what we did today and keep digging and we'll be where we need to be at the end."

Stewart will look to make history on Sunday by becoming the first driver to win back-to-back NASCAR races at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He has four career Top 10 finishes in the race, including consecutive Top 5's with his win of 2005 and fifth place finish in 2004.

"It's obviously a place that means a lot to me and to say I'm looking forward to going back is an understatement," Stewart said.
