Newman added another memory on Friday.
He picked up his second Bud Pole of the year and 37th in his career Friday, earning the top spot with a lap of 129.683 mph for Sunday's NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series LENOX Industrial Tools 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway.
It was his fourth pole in nine tries at New Hampshire.
Jeff Burton, last week's polesitter at Chicagoland Speedway, will start outside the front row.
Hendrick Motorsports teammates Brian Vickers and Kyle Busch will make up the second row.
Last September's Loudon winner, Tony Stewart, rounded out the Top 5.
Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Martin Truex Jr., Reed Sorenson and Kurt Busch completed the first ten qualifiers.
Four drivers failed to make Sunday's race: Derrike Cope, Joey McCarthy, Morgan Shepherd and Ted Christopher.
Sunday's LENOX Industrial Tools 300 will take the green flag at 2:10 p.m. (ET).
