Mears Jumps To The Top

Casey Mears jumped to the top of the testing speed charts at Richmond International Speedway on Wednesday evening with a 126.802 mph. Mears' lap is the fastest so far in the in the six sessions that have been contested this week.

Forty cars participated in the evening session that saw Ryan Newman also pick-up speed with his lap of 126.404 mph.

This afternoon Kyle Busch led with both of his cars with his "B" car setting the fastest lap of the session at 126.576 mph. His second car clocked a time of 21.404 seconds (126.162 mph).

Kevin Harvick, who paced the morning session (126.505 mph), along with Ken Schrader (126.062), joined Busch, Mears and Newman as the only drivers to break the 126 mph barrier this week.

Tuesday's fastest driver Mark Martin was able to improve his best time this afternoon after posting the third fastest lap of that session at 125.628 mph.

David Stremme's evening time of 21.447 seconds (125.892 mph) is tops among the rookies so far.

The test session wraps up Thursday, as several cars will turn laps from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
