Fedewa New Spotter At RCR

WELCOME, N.C. - NASCAR Busch Series veteran driver Tim Fedewa has joined Richard Childress Racing (RCR) as the spotter for Clint Bowyer's No. 07 Jack Daniel's Chevrolet in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series and the No. 2 ACDelco Chevrolet in the NASCAR Busch Series.

Fedewa, a veteran of 333 Busch Series starts, lays claim to four wins, four pole positions, 25 top-five and 66 top-10 finishes on NASCAR's junior circuit. Fedewa's most recent NBS win came in May 2000 when the Holt, Mich., native won from the pole at New Hampshire International Speedway.

"It's pretty exciting to be part of a championship organization like RCR," said Fedewa. "Up until just a few weeks ago, I was spotting some Busch races on Saturday's but I knew I wanted to work on Sunday's too. (Mike) Dillon saw me on the spotter's stand and asked me who I was spotting for and I told him who it was, but that it was only on a temporary basis. He asked me if would consider spotting for Clint on both days. It was too good of an offer to turn down. We've got a couple races under our belts already and it seems to be working out pretty well."

Since Fedewa's tenure with RCR began just three weeks ago at Texas Motor Speedway, Bowyer has certainly enjoyed an upward trend in performance. Fedewa has contributed to a Busch Series runner-up finish two weeks ago at Nashville Superspeedway along with Bowyer's first NEXTEL Cup Series top-five finish last weekend at Phoenix International Raceway. Bowyer is currently second and 12th respectively, in the NASCAR Busch Series and NEXTEL Cup Series point standings.

"We're excited to have Tim on board at RCR," explained Mike Dillon, Director Team Operations for RCR. "Tim has a lot of experience behind the wheel which makes him the perfect fit as Clint's spotter. We've been making a lot of moves to strengthen the entire organization and this is another step in that direction. Tim is very calm and does a great job. A calm and informed voice on the radio goes a long way toward keeping the driver composed in the car."
