Braun Transfers Points

In an effort to maintain the branding and marketing efforts of their primary sponsor, Great Clips, Inc., Braun-Akins Racing announced that they will transfer points from their No. 32 Chevrolet to the No. 38 entry, effective immediately. As a result, Jason Leffler, who currently sits 12th in the NASCAR Busch Series point standings, will have a new number as he takes the wheel of the No. 38 Great Clips Chevrolet on a permanent basis. Leffler’s entire team will remain intact under the leadership of Crew Chief, Todd Lohse.

Great Clips, Inc. has been associated with the No. 38 since their entry into the NASCAR Busch Series as primary sponsor six years ago. Moving Leffler over to the No. 38 Great Clips entry will allow the company to continue its marketing and branding strategies of the No. 38 and give them the opportunity to align themselves with a championship contending team and driver in Leffler.

“Great Clips has a large investment in the No. 38 and we wanted to honor that investment,” said Doug Stringer, co-owner, Braun-Akins Racing. “Great Clips has spent six years marketing and branding the No. 38 and fans of the NASCAR Busch Series now associate one with the other. We thought it was important for Great Clips to continue building on that association from a marketing standpoint. We want Great Clips with us every step of the way as Jason Leffler contends for the 2006 championship.”

“Great Clips is excited about our continued partnership with Braun Racing,” said Terri Miller, Vice President of Marketing, Great Clips, Inc. “We applaud Doug Stringer and Todd Braun for making our branding and marketing of the Great Clips Racing program a top priority in their organization. We are thrilled to be able to move forward with the No. 38 and to represent Jason Leffler as he contends for the 2006 NASCAR Busch Series championship title. We know that Jason will represent us well both on and off the track.”

Braun-Akins Racing has undergone a transformation over the last couple of weeks including a driver change and a manufacturer change for the No. 38 from Dodge to Chevrolet. When the No. 38 was scaled back to a part-time schedule, it was announced that Great Clips would divide its sponsorship between the No. 32 and No. 38 entries.

As it stands, the No. 32 will be running a limited schedule with sponsorship from ABF U-Pack, HAAS Avocado, Fort McDowell "Yavapai Pride" Destination Resort and Fraternal Order of Eagles for the remaining races. The driver lineup for the No. 32 will be determined in the near future.
