The racing season is just around the corner, so that means it's time to break out the trusty Magic Racing 8 Ball to put it to the test for some Speedweeks and season predictions.

Will Tony Stewart repeat as NEXTEL Cup Champion and pick up his third title?
8 Ball answer: Don't count on it.
Jimmie Johnson will finally get his first championship after coming so close on numerous occasions.

Will there be a first-time winner in the Budweiser Shootout?
8 Ball answer: Signs point to yes.
Kyle Busch will win the Shootout in his first start to kick off his best season in NEXTEL Cup racing along with a birth in the "Chase for the Cup" in September.

Will Bobby Gerhart repeat as champion of the ARCA 200 at Daytona?
8 Ball answer: My sources say no.
The young crop of development drivers will shine at Daytona with Stephen Leicht getting his first win in his first series start with Robert Yates Racing.

Will a Ford open the season with a win in the Craftsman Truck Series event at Daytona?
8 Ball answer: Without a doubt.
Mark Martin will give fans a sneak peek at 2007 as to what it will look like for his No. 6 truck to be standing in victory lane. The win will be his second in only his fourth series start.

Will a Chevrolet win the Daytona 500 pole?
8 Ball answer: It's decidedly so.
Bill Elliott will put his name back in the headlines along with letting everyone know just excatly what Ginn Clubs & Resorts is.

Will Jeff Gordon win his fourth Daytona 500?
8 Ball answer: Outlook not so good.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. will hold off the MB2 and Hendrick cars for his first win since being reunited with Tony Eury Jr.

Will Carl Edwards win the Busch Series Championship?
8 Ball answer: Yes.
If he can make all the races consider him a lock for the title. Last year he finished third after missing one race. Johnny Sauter could be a threat among the series regulars.

Will there be a first-time winner(s) in the NEXTEL Cup Series this season?
8 Ball answer: As I see it yes.
Brian Vickers, Casey Mears and Denny Hamlin will all get their first career win with Vickers scoring the most with two.

Will Ford break Chevrolets three-straight manufacturer championships?
8 Ball answer: Very doubtful.
Although, the new Ford Fusion will get off to a fast start with several wins in the first quarter of the season, Ford just can't match up to Hendrick, Gibbs, DEI and MB2 in this race.

Will Jamie McMurray get locked out the "Chase" and Victory Lane in 2006?
8 Ball answer: Don't count on it.
Jamie McMurray will not only make the "Chase," but will also win multiple Cup races for the first time in his career.

Will Mark Martin go winless in his last full season in NEXTEL Cup?
8 Ball answer: My sources say no.
Mark Martin will win another race this season along with making the "Chase" during his "Saulte to You" Tour encore.

Will Elliott Sadler make a return to the "Chase" after missing it in 2005?
8 Ball answer: It is certain.
Elliott Sadler will be one of the Ford's to score more than one win in 2006, thanks in part to his new crew chief Tommy Baldwin, Jr.

Will Kurt Busch make this year's "Chase" in his new ride at Penske?
8 Ball answer: My reply is no.
Although the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge has seen its share of success in the past, it won't continue in 2006, as the team will fail to make the "Chase" with its new driver. Busch, who will get a win this season on one of the flat speedways, will have to cheer for his teammate Ryan Newman, as he will be the lone Dodge in the hunt for the championship in the end.

Will Martin Truex Jr. win the Rookie of the Year title?
8 Ball answer: Don't count on it.
Denny Hamlin won my vote last fall after he dropped nearly two laps behind early at Martinsville and went on to finish eighth in his first Cup start there. This year it will be Hamiln edging out Truex for the rookie title.

Can Todd Bodine carry over his late 2005 season success into this year in the Craftsman Truck Series?
8 Ball answer: Yes - definitely.
Toyota will get their first Truck Series title before they embark in the Cup Series in 2007.

Will Sterling Marlin rebound from his dismal points finish in 2005?
8 Ball answer: Count on it.
Marlin will get off to a fast start with his new home at MB2 starting at Daytona, and will improve the most positions in the standings among all the full-time drivers in 2005.

Will Tony Stewart land another road course win this season?
8 Ball answer: No.
The two Gordon's - Jeff and Robby - will sweep the road course events in 2006, with Jeff winning at Sonoma and Robby at Watkins Glen.

Will the Magic Racing 8 Ball score right at least 70% of these questions?
8 Ball answer: Better not tell you now.
Well I guess we'll just have to wait and see. And just like RacingOne's Managing Editor Pete Pistone said with his predictions, a print out of this could very well be used as birdcage lining at the end of the year.
