Garvey In No. 51 In 2006

Findlay, Ohio - Competitive Edge Motorsports has teamed with driver Mike Garvey for the upcoming 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup season.

While Mike Garvey may be a new name for some, he is well-known in the racing circuit where he has driven in almost every racing series, including ASA, Craftsman Truck, Busch, and NASCAR Nextel Cup. He is regarded by many race experts as one of the best short-track drivers in any circuit.

Through his career, Mike has earned 36 wins, including 22 in the ASA series, tying him with Mark Martin for fifth in all time wins.

In 2005, Mike qualified nine times for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, with his best finish of 25th place at Pocono. Voted "Most Popular Driver" in two different circuits, Garvey was inducted into the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. Married and the father of two children, he currently resides in McDonough, Ga.

The Marathon American Spirit Motor Oil No. 51 Chevy Monte Carlo will open up the 2006 season at the California Speedway on February 26 with a fresh focus on elevating performance.
Competitive Edge Motorsports will follow the California race with races at Las Vegas, Atlanta, Bristol and Martinsville.

Excited about the new season, the Marathon Chevrolet No. 51 Team and Garvey will be testing in Las Vegas, January 30 to February 1.

"The team has done an outstanding job with the 2006 body and the preparation is going as planned. The cars are really good. It should get interesting this year," said Garvey. "We're nearly ready for the new season, and we're looking forward to the upcoming tests at Las Vegas. With refreshed bodies and engines for the cars, an experienced driver, and a team with focused enthusiasm, we expect 2006 to be our best yet," Competitive Edge Motorsports owner Joe Auer concluded.
