Icountdown To Daytona:/I 50 Days

Geoff Bodine snapped his winless draught of 1985 by winning the season-opening Daytona 500 on February 16, 1986. Bodine took his Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet to victory lane and a $192,715 payday.

Terry Labonte, Darrell Waltrip, Bobby Hillin, Jr. and Benny Parsons rounded out the Top 5.

Dale Earnhardt was Bodine's biggest challenger in the race, but ran out of fuel and was forced to pit with three laps to go.

Bodine averaged 148.124 mph in the win.
