Change Of Plans

Upon further review the "Salute to You" Tour will be pushed back a year.

It looks more than likely that Mark Martin will be back for another year of NEXTEL Cup competition in 2006 returning to the Roush Racing No. 6 Ford.

Martin tipped his hand Thursday night after winning the IROC race in Richmond.

"I've had to change my plans," Martin said. "My first truck is already done and I was looking forward to that. I was going to do a limited Busch schedule and a full truck schedule in 2006.

"Now, I'm trying to back out of the deal, if I can. I can't do 10 Busch races, 25 truck races and 36 Cup races. I thought I was going to slow down, not race more."

Car owner Jack Roush has been forced to call on Martin to return next year since Jamie McMurray, who has signed on with Roush Racing to take over the No. 6 car in 2007, is bound to Chip Ganassi Racing next season.

Unless Ganassi has a sudden change of heart, McMurray will be back behind the wheel of the No. 42 Dodge next season, giving Martin another year with Roush.
