Room For The Broom?

Kevin Harvick puts his perfect 2005 record at Bristol Motor Speedway on the line this weekend.

Harvick is an impeccable two for two at the high-banked, half-mile oval this year after sweeping both the Busch Series and NEXTEL Cup race at "Thunder Valley" back in the spring.

One thing that Harvick has in his favor this weekend is his fondness of the lighting-fast short track.

"I grew up on a half-mile, high-banked racetrack," Harvick said. "I know Bristol is a lot more banked, but it's kind of the same mindset for me driving around the track. It's very fast, high-banked concrete. It's short-track beating and banging, a lot of fun. I seem to have a lot of success every time I go, so I'm always excited to go back."

His double back in April made Harvick and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. the only two drivers in history to take both the Busch Series and NEXTEL Cup events at Bristol in a weekend.

The Californian's record at Bristol during the course of his career has been nothing less than amazing. He has four Busch Series wins in eleven starts and a NEXTEL Cup victory after taking seven green flags.

"Kevin is one of the best drivers at Bristol," said Busch Series crew chief, Rick Viers. "He definitely has a knack for that place, and it's a real pleasure to have him in the car for us there. He knows what he wants in a car there, and he'll make the most out of every run he has there. It should be a good weekend for us."

A good run in Saturday night's Sharpie 500 is vital to Harvick's hopes of making this year's "Chase for the NEXTEL Cup." With only three races to qualify for the championship season, Harvick comes to Bristol only 82 points out of the final transfer spot.
