MOORESVILLE, N.C. - The No. 97 Roush Racing team walked off with $100,000 for first prize in last night's National Pit Crew Championship Powered by Tyson held at the Pit Instruction and Training facility in Mooresville, North Carolina. Evernham Motorsports No. 19 Team captured second place honors and in the process pocketed $25,000. Thirty-seven teams from both the Cup and Busch Series participated in the event. The No. 21 Richard Childress Racing Team took top honors among Busch Series teams.

"Roush Racing has the best pit crews in motorsports and tonight the world got to see just how gifted these athletes really are," said Wayne DeLoria, pit coach of the No.97 Roush Racing Team. "I'm proud of these guys and I'm already looking forward to next year."

The seven guys who went over the wall for Roush's No. 19 team are: front tire carrier Mark Full, front tire changer Scott Ward, jack man Scott Radel, fuel man Doug Newell, catch can man Jim Gaudette, rear tire changer Kevin Gillman, and rear tire carrier Jason Binger. They posted a Finals time of 16.342 seconds, which included no penalty time, indicating a perfect pit stop for the team.

Added Jimmy Fenning, Roush Racing Team Crew Chief, "On an even playing field tonight our guys got to strut their stuff. The entire Roush Racing organization is proud of these men. I also want to thank Tyson Foods for putting on such a great event."

"The No. 97 team was just awesome tonight. They had everything going right," said Larry McReynolds, FOX Sports television analyst and legendary crew chief. "Tonight's winners are a big reason the No. 97 team has had the success it has enjoyed on the racetrack, especially down the stretch last year."

The three fastest teams, as well as a fourth "wild card" team closed out the evening by going after the "Powered by Tyson Pit Stop," which required a winning team to post a pit stop equal to or greater than one second faster than any other time posted in the qualifying rounds and the competition. The No. 97 team came the closest but missed the mark by less than a half of a second.

"These athletes demonstrated just how skilled they really are," said Bob Corscadden, Tyson's senior vice president and chief marketing officer. "They were the heroes tonight, and Tyson Foods is proud to elevate and power the level of competition in their sport."

The National Pit Crew Championship Powered by Tyson will be televised on the SPEED Channel on August 6, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. All proceeds from the event were donated to Second Harvest of Metrolina and The Victory Junction Gang Camp.
