Kahne On Pole Roll

RICHMOND, Va. - Kasey Kahne swept Friday's qualifying sessions at Richmond International Raceway winning the pole for both the Busch Series race and the NEXTEL Cup Series Chevy American Revolution 400.

It was Kahne's second straight NEXTEL Cup Series pole position after the Evernham Motorsports driver claimed the top spot for last weekend's Dodge Charger 500 at Darlington Raceway.

Kahne's run Friday night of 129.964 mph topped the 47 car field.

"I was worried about Ryan Newman," Kahne said. "I knew he was in a backup car, but I knew he was going to be fast."

Newman was forced to use his back-up car after crashing his primary machine during practice. The ALLTEL Dodge will start second.

"But we've got a good backup," Newman said.

Tony Stewart, Kurt Busch and Elliott Sadler rounded out the Top 5.

Ricky Rudd, Rusty Wallace, Kevin Harvick, Greg Biffle and rookie Kyle Busch completed the first ten qualifiers.

Kevin Lepage, Kirk Shelmerdine, Carl Long and Jeff Fuller failed to make Saturday night's line-up.

The Chevy American Revolution 400 will take the green flag Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
