Harvick Appeal Denied

Kevin Harvick and crew chief Todd Berrier had their appeal denied by a NASCAR commission for rules infractions during qualifying for the UAW-DaimlerChrylser 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

A three-member panel of the commission met Tuesday at NASCAR's research and development center to hear the appeal.

The penalties assessed were:

• Loss of 25 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Championship Car Owner Points for car owner Richard Childress.

• Loss of 25 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Championship Driver Points for Kevin Harvick.

• $25,000.00 fine and suspension from NASCAR until April 20, 2005 and suspension from the next four (4) NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races for crew chief Todd Berrier.

Berrier has already sat out the March 20th race at Atlanta Motor Speedway and will now be eligible to come back at the April 23rd event at Phoenix International Raceway.
