Kansas Handicaps

Share:
Dale Earnhardt Jr.- Junior has led at least a lap in each of the three Kansas races but has never finished better than sixth in a Cup race here. His other two finishes were eighteenth and 33rd.

Kurt Busch- After finishing ninth in the inaugural Kansas Cup race Busch has finished outside the top 30 in the last two race races here. He blew an engine at Kansas last year and finished 41st.

Jeff Gordon- Historically this track has offered up the Jeff Gordon Invitational. He won the first two Cup races here and finished fifth at Kansas last year.

Mark Martin- Martin finished sixth in the first Kansas Cup race but has struggled here the last two years. He lost an engine here in 2002 and finished 25th. This place has been tough on Roush built engines so hedge your bets.

Matt Kenseth- Kenseth finished seventh here in 2002 but has finished outside the top 30 in his other two Kansas starts.

Tony Stewart- Stewart has top 10 finishes in all three Kansas Cup races with a best result of fourth here last year.

Ryan Newman- Newman's record at Kansas is nothing less than stellar. He finished second here in his first two Kansas races and won here last year. Do the math. That's a 1.7 average finishing spot.

Elliott Sadler- Sadler hasn't finished better than eighteenth here. He crashed out of last year's Kansas race and finished 42nd a week after taking a flier at Talladega.

Jimmie Johnson- Johnson has top 10 finishes in both his Kansas Cup starts and has started on the front row for both races.

Jeremy Mayfield- Mayfield has top 10 finishes in his last top Kansas Cup starts including a third place result here last year.

Jamie McMurray- McMurray finished eighth here last year in the Cup race. He's also finished tenth in the last two Busch races here.

Kevin Harvick- Harvick has improved his finishing position in each of his three Cup starts at Kansas. He finished sixteenth in 2001, eleventh in 2002, and sixth last year. Mathematically if he advances five spots again he wins. Harvick was runner-up in last year's Busch race here.

Dale Jarrett- Jarrett hasn't finished better than 30th in his three Cup starts at Kansas. In fact he's failed to finish all three races. That's not so good.

Kasey Kahne- This will be Kahne's first Cup start at Kansas. He hasn't fared too well here in two Busch outings.

Bobby Labonte- Labonte hasn't finished better than seventeenth in three Cup starts at Kansas.

Michael Waltrip- Waltrip has DNFs in two of his three Kansas Cup starts and finished 26th in the one race he did manage to finish. Practice saying it with me; “You want fries with your order?”

Rusty Wallace- Wallace has top 10 finishes in all three of his Kansas Cup starts with two of those finishes within the top 5.

Casey Mears – Mears finished 24th here last year in the Cup race. He did manage a twelfth place finish in last year's Busch race here.

Sterling Marlin – Marlin finished fifth in the inaugural Kansas race but has finished 33rd and 34th in the two races run here since.

Jeff Burton – Burton's best finish here is eleventh. He failed to finish this race in 2002. He did win the 2002 Busch race here though.
