Sadler led the morning session in his Robert Yates Racing M&Ms Ford with a lap of 187.664 mph. Wednesday's fast man Ricky Rudd was second followed by Schrader's BAM Racing Dodge.
The morning session was marred by Jimmie Johnson's crash, which badly damaged his primary Hendrick Motorsports Lowe's Chevrolet. Johnson said he encountered fluid as he raced through the third turn on his first lap and wound up crumpling the nose of his Monte Carlo into the wall.
"We run the top all the way around here, on the first two laps basically and maybe it was still wet up there," Johnson said. "Before I turned off the wall into the turn on my warm-up lap -- I wasn't even up to speed yet -- the car was backwards before I entered Turn 3."
Schrader climbed to the top of the speed charts in the afternoon session with a lap of 187.793 mph. Sadler and Rudd rounded out the Top 3.
Next up at the "World Center of Racing" is "Pre-Season Thunder" testing for the Busch Series this weekend.
