MARTINSVILLE, Va. - After starting behind the eight-ball with a backup car, Dale Jarrett and the No. 88 UPS Racing Team worked through the 500-lap marathon at Martinsville Speedway to finish 11th despite spinning out on two different occasions.

Jarrett started 39th after wrecking his primary car during qualifying on Friday. The team adjusted on the car through practices on Saturday and throughout the race on Sunday. The result was the team's best finish since posting a seventh-place effort at Bristol in August.

"The team did a good job all weekend really working with a car that was by no means a short-track car," Jarrett said. "We were in a really good position right after halfway and I spun the car out the second time. The first time I spun I got hit by a lapped car, the second time was a result of me just driving in too hard. But after the weekend we've had, an 11th-place finish feels pretty good."

"Shawn (Parker, crew chief) did a great job in the pits and making adjustments and it was just a monumental effort by this whole UPS Team today," Jarrett added.

Jarrett was able to benefit from NASCAR's new "Lucky Dog" rule early in the race when he got a lap down after being hit on lap 106. Jarrett was the first car one lap down when the caution waved on lap 136 and was therefore automatically put back on the lead lap.

Meanwhile, it was an up and down sort of day for Elliott Sadler and the No. 38 M&M's team. Sadler lost a lap early, got it back as a result of the "Lucky Dog" rule, only to lose it again when he cut a tire down on lap 287. He eventually finished the day three laps down in 28th place.

The 11th-place finish at Martinsville moves the UPS Team up a spot in the point standings to 26th and Jarrett is just one point out of 25th place. Sadler also moved up a spot and is now 23rd in the point standings.

Atlanta Motor Speedway is host to the NASCAR Winston Cup Series next weekend for the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500. NBC is providing live television coverage starting at 12 noon EST. The green flag is scheduled to wave shortly after at 12:30 p.m.
