Chicago All-Star

Dale Earnhardt Jr. didn’t capture the Daytona "Grand Slam" (Winning all four major Speedweek events) by winning this year’s Daytona 500, but Budweiser and Major League Baseball will make sure he will during the 3rd running of the Tropicana 400 at Chicagoland Speedway, as they are going with Dale Jr. for another Mid-Summer Classic promotion.

Since 2001, Budweiser and MLB have emphasized their close association via an All-Star Game paint scheme, honoring the Mid-Summer Classic, featured on Dale Jr.’s famous No. 8 Chevrolet Monte Carlo during the July night race at Daytona.

In one of the most memorable and emotional victories in NASCAR history, Earnhardt Jr. took the Budweiser/MLB All-Star
Game Monte Carlo to victory lane in the first year of the promotion. The win was the first of the 2001 season for Junior and it was also the first time the series returned to Daytona International Speedway after the death of his father, Dale Earnhardt, in the Daytona 500.

This year the Budweiser/MLB promotion will move from Daytona to Chicago.

Why move it to Chicago? Well...

Unlike the first two season’s of the promotion where the MLB All-Star Game was held in Seattle and Milwaukee, this year’s Mid-Summer Classic will be held at U.S. Cellular Field (Formerly Comiskey Park) home of the Chicago White Sox, which is close to Chicagoland Speedway.

Chicago sports fans will enjoy quite an action-packed July when both NASCAR and MLB descend on the Windy City. U.S. Cellular One Field might be known for its scoreboard that blasts fireworks off when a White Sox player hits a home run, but on July 13, 2003, Dale Jr. will try for some victory fireworks of his own, as he will showcase the latest No. 8 Budweiser/MLB All-Star Game paint scheme during the Tropicana 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. The following Tuesday night, July 15th, baseball’s best players and coaches will headline the 74th All-Star Game.

Earnhardt Jr. will take the field with other celebrities and Major League Baseball sponsors for batting practice in the morning, and attend the festivities before the annual home run hitting contest in the evening at U.S. Cellular field on Monday, July 14.

He will also be signing autographs at 2:30 at the MLB FanFest at McCormick Place.

Due to the past success of Earnhardt Major League Baseball collectibles, Anheuser-Busch, MLB and Action Performance Companies once again will produce the full line of die-cast collectibles and related memorabilia featuring the 2003 Budweiser/All-Star Game paint scheme.

The 2003 MLB die-cast car is currently available in 1:18 scale and 1:24 scale in the RacingOne Fan Shop.

Also available Dale Jr's Dirty Mo' Posse car which he drove to victory on July 4th at Daytona.
