Parker, who’s currently 14th in the Busch Series points standings with one victory and six top-10 finishes for Jessel Motorsports, will drive the No. 91 Dodge Intrepid for Evernham in addition to his Busch Series duties that weekend.
“We feel Hank deserved a shot at driving this car for us,” said Ray Evernham, President and CEO of Evernham Motorsports. “He gave Dodge their first victory in the Busch Series and we feel he deserved to be rewarded for his loyalty to the Dodge program.”
Parker won the NetZero 250 at Pikes Peak International Raceway in late July, his second career Busch Series triumph.
Sammy Johns, research and development coordinator for Evernham Motorsports, will serve as crew chief for the team. The pit crew will be made up of backup pit crew members for Evernham Motorsports. Dick Trickle attempted to qualify the No. 91 Dodge Intrepid R/T at Talladega in April.
Musgrave Gets Two More Cup Races
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular Ted Musgrave will get two more Winston Cup Series starts by season’s end. Musgrave is scheduled to drive the No. 07 Kenwood/Sirius Dodge for Ultra-Evernham Motorsports at both Phoenix and Homestead to close out the year.
Musgrave, who has the weekend off from the CTS, is in the car this weekend at Martinsville to participate in the Old Dominion 500. He’ll start 19th after a solid qualifying lap Friday afternoon.
“We’re pleased to be continue our partnership with Kenwood in this endeavor,” said Joseph P. Clayton, President and CEO of Sirius. “Kenwood is a leader in their industry and one of our key hardware partners. Sponsoring a second NASCAR team with Kenwood is a perfect fit for Sirius as we continue to bring our 100 percent commercial free music and outstanding entertainment programming to race fans and consumers across the country.”
Musgrave has competed in two other races this season in the No. 07 Dodge. He finished 21st in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis, and 27th in the Mountain Dew Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
Musgrave is currently third in the CTS championship standings, 149 points behind leader Mike Bliss with three races remaining. Prior to coming to the Truck Series in 2001, Musgrave drove several years in the Winston Cup Series for a handful of teams.
“This is without a doubt a tremendous opportunity for me, and I’m anxiously looking forward to racing the No. 07 Kenwood/Sirius Dodge three more times this season,” Musgrave said. “We were competitive in Indianapolis and Darlington, so I am really looking forward to showing people how good this Kenwood/Sirius team can be. I know that if we are consistent, give it 100 percent and leave everything on the table, we will put together solid runs and finish strong down the stretch.”
Lusk, TBR Get Atlanta Sponsorship
Damon Lusk will make his second career Busch Series start at Atlanta Motor Speedway next Saturday in the Aaron’s 312 behind the wheel of Tommy Baldwin Racing Dodge.
The No. 6 Dodge has obtained primary sponsorship from STA-RITE Industries, a Delavan, Wis.-based company which manufactures pumps and water processing equipment for residential, industrial and agricultural markets worldwide.
“Cow Tails”, a brand of the Maryland-based Goetzes’ Candy Company, will grace the hood of the TBR Dodge for the Atlanta event.
Wally Dallenbach, who also drives for TBR and commentates for NBC/TNT is a celebrity spokesperson for “Cow Tails.” He will be on hand during the weekend in a “mentor’s role” for the teams development program with Lusk.
“We are excited to have STA-RITE Industries step up their sponsorship position to a primary level,” said team co-owner Eddie D’Hondt. “We’re also grateful that Wally has been able to help the team by bringing “Cow Tails” on board. Additionally, his influence and knowledge during the race weekend will prove to be a valuable asset to Damon and our team. Damon already has proven success by winning the ARCA race at Atlanta Motor Speedway earlier this year. We’re confident that STA-RITE and “Cow Tails” will be pleased with our results.”
“Cow Tails” also joined TBR in Charlotte as an associate sponsor and will complete their 2002 sponsorship at Phoenix International Raceway.
