Ken Schrader’s Thoughts On Kansas Speedway

“I have to hand it to ISC – they developed a top-notch facility when they put together the plans for Kansas Speedway. Not only is the facility beautiful, but it also had some pretty good racing from the first time we got on track. There were two grooves during the first race, and I expect that it will be even better the second time around.

“I’m really looking forward to the trip to Kansas. Going to the Midwest tracks is like going home for me, especially here. It’s exciting for me because this is where I got my start, and it’s where I fell in love with racing. I sure would like to have a strong run this weekend.”

“M&M’s”® Racing At Kansas Speedway

Kenny Schrader was named the third quarter True Value Man Of The Year this week. Schrader was honored for his charitable work through “M&M’s”® Night Of Stars – a charity race at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo., that raised more than $112,000 for Victory Junction Gang Camp – and the Hendrick Marrow Foundation. Schrader is now one of four drivers who will be eligible for the grand prize, which will be awarded at the Winston Cup Banquet in December.

“I’m very honored and excited to have been chosen for this award,” Schrader said. “There are a lot of people in this garage area who do a lot of good things, and I’m honored to be included in that group.”

The No. 36 team will trade in its familiar “M&M’s”® paint scheme this week for the PEDIGREE® colors. It is one of six races this season that the PEDIGREE® car will appear on track.

While in Kansas City this weekend, Kenny Schrader will make a pit stop on Saturday night at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo., the track that he co-owns with longtime pal Ray Marler. The season finale at I-55 Raceway was rained out two weeks ago, and since Schrader would be nearby for the Winston Cup race, it was rescheduled for this weekend. Schrader plans to run in the late model race at the 3/8-mile dirt track. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the race begins at 7 p.m.

Kansas Speedway is as close as the Winston Cup circuit comes to home for “M&M’s”® driver Kenny Schrader, a native of Fenton, Mo. It’s only a 250-mile drive straight up I-55 to the small town where Schrader’s racing career was born. Schrader is excited to get back in front of the hometown crowd.

“I would love to come away with a top-10 for the hometown crowd,” Schrader said. “They’ve supported me for years, and I sure would like to give them something to cheer about this weekend.”

Schrader is scheduled to sign autographs at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 8301 N. Church Street in Kansas City, Mo. The appearance begins at 3 p.m.
