Schrader Pocono Track Notes

Schrader’s Thoughts On The Pennsylvania 500
“Pocono is one of the trickiest and most challenging tracks that we visit each year, and we always run pretty good there. There’s absolutely nothing that I can compare it to. Each corner is different and unique, and that’s what makes it interesting for the drivers and the crews.

“I was pretty disappointed when we were here in June because we didn’t get the chance to qualify. The “M&M’s”® Racing Team has been really good at the track in qualifying in the past, and we were looking forward to starting up front there in June. Instead, we started in 38th and really had to battle our way through the field. Hopefully, we will have the chance to shine in qualifying this time around. I think the “M&M’s”® crew is excited to go back to Pocono. If we can qualify well and avoid any bad luck on the race track, I think we will have a pretty solid performance this weekend.”

“M&M’s”® Racing At Pocono Raceway
Ken Schrader’s record at Pocono for turning quick laps speaks for itself. Schrader has led the field to the green flag five times at the triangular track, and he has started in the top 10 on 23 different occasions. Since qualifying at Pocono was cancelled in June, Schrader and the “M&M’s”® Racing Team are especially hungry for another quick lap at the 2.5-mile track. The team’s best qualifying effort this season was scoring the outside pole at Rockingham in February.

It’s not exactly in “M&M’s”® backyard, but Pocono Raceway could be considered the home track for the No. 36 car’s primary sponsor. The famous triangular track is a little more than an hour northwest of the famous chocolate candy maker’s headquarters in Hackettstown, N.J.

Schrader will make a quick pit stop on his way to Pocono Raceway this week. Schrader will run his dirt car at Slinger (Wis.) Super Speedway on Tuesday night and at St. Francis County Raceway in Farmington, Mo., on Wednesday night.

Start counting down the days. It’s less than one week until Schrader and his friends take part in “M&M’s”® Night Of Stars, an autograph session and charity race to benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp, at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo. Schrader will be joined at the July 31st event by other Winston Cup regulars – Kyle Petty, Bill Elliott, Steve Park, Johnny Benson, Mike Wallace and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. During the night, the seven drivers will take to the 3/8-mile track for a 10-lap shoot-out on dirt. There’s no big purse for the winner of the event – just bragging rights for the next year.
