Schrader Disappointed With 25Th

LONG POND, Pa. - Ken Schrader and the “M&M’s”® Racing Team hoped the combination of a late draw and a solid history at the 2.5-mile Pocono Raceway would spell success for them during Friday’s qualifying.

But things would not go the team’s way, and the No. 36 will roll off 25th for the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway on Sunday. Schrader turned his quick lap in 53.496 seconds (168.237 mph). But the lap was several tenths off from pole winner Bill Elliott’s time of 52.765 seconds (170.568 mph). Elliott’s pole is his fourth this season. Elliott’s pole winning performance also ties Schrader’s record for holding the most poles at Pocono Raceway – both now have five poles at Pocono.

“I’m really disappointed with our lap today,” Schrader said. “I thought the “M&M’s”® car felt pretty good during practice, but I guess we went the wrong way with it. It just didn’t want to turn in the corners. I was really battling with it out there. I guess we’ll just have to work at it tomorrow to get it in top form for Sunday.”

The Pennsylvania 500 will begin at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday. The race will air on TNT.
