Ken Schrader’s Thoughts On The Dodge/Save Mart 350…

“I’ve had some decent runs, and I’ve been upside down at Sears Point. It is a very demanding race track. You really have to be on top of your game all day long. If you miss a turn, it will take you three or four laps before you can get caught back up. I’ve had some pretty good runs at Sears Point, and the “M&M’s”® Team would like to be back up in the front this weekend.”

“M&M’s”® Racing At Sears Point Raceway…

It will be a busy weekend in California’s wine country for “M&M’s”® driver Kenny Schrader. Not only will Schrader pilot the No. 36 Pontiac during the weekend, but he will also be calling the shots as a car owner on Saturday. Road course racing veteran Boris Said will climb behind the wheel of the Schrader Racing entry in the Southwest Tour Series event.

Ken Schrader has had some memorable races, and he has taken quite a few interesting turns in his career. One such instance was at Sears Point in 1999. Running in the top 10 with only 19 laps left in the race, Schrader “lost traction” and flipped the race car twice before landing in a ditch in turn one. Schrader walked away from the accident and has since joked about his wild ride.

The “M&M’s”® Racing Team traveled to Virginia International Raceway in preparation for the first road course race of the season on June 4.

It comes as no surprise that Schrader isn’t planning to just sit around at home next weekend for the Winston Cup circuit’s final weekend off of the 2002 season. Schrader has plans to race at a couple of Midwest dirt tracks – Jacksonville Speedway in Illinois on June 28 and I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo., on June 29. Then on June 30, Schrader along with Tony Stewart, Johnny Benson and some other Winston Cup regulars will travel to Cayuga Speedway in Ontario, Canada for a CASCAR (Canada’s version of NASCAR) event.
