Top 10 Qualifying Effort For Schrader

CONCORD, N.C. - Ken Schrader and the PEDIGREE®/“M&M’s”® Racing Team seemingly picked up where they left off at Lowe’s Motor Speedway last weekend. Piloting the same car that the No. 36 team finished second with in The Winston Open, Schrader felt confident that the PEDIGREE® car would be strong in qualifying.

Despite drawing an early qualifying position, Schrader and the No. 36 car were able to walk away with a solid ninth place qualifying effort. Schrader circled the 1.5-mile track in 29.168 seconds (185.134 mph).

Rookie Jimmie Johnson scored the pole with a lap of 28.960 seconds (186.464 mph). Johnson’s lap set a new track record at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

“The guys just kept tweaking at this car all day, and it got a lot better when we ran our lap,” Schrader said.

“I think that it should be a real good race car on Sunday. I like coming here and historically the “M&M’s”® car has had some pretty good runs at Charlotte. I’m really looking forward to Sunday.”
