Preen Petree Wallace Together For The Winston

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

E. FLAT ROCK, N.C. - Andy Petree Racing, Preen Lawn and Garden Products and Mike Wallace will play a major role in NASCAR's All-Star Weekend. Wallace will drive the Preen Chevrolet for Petree in The Winston,
NASCAR's version of the All-Star Game, Saturday night, May 18, at the 1.5-mile Lowe's Motor Speedway.

"As good as that trioval grass looks at Lowe's, Preen has probably been to The Winston before," said Wallace. "For me, it's my first time in the sport's All-Star Game. I'm pretty excited."

Wallace has started three events for Andy Petree Racing this season, including the season-opening Daytona 500, the Rockingham 400 and the Talladega 500. The car was competitive in all three of those races.

"We felt like we had good cars and good runs going in all three," Wallace said, "but little things ended up costing us. One of the harder parts of running a partial schedule is the fact that you just can't build the consistency you want in the cars, the team or whatever. The other is it cuts down on your chances to do well. So far this year, most teams have had 10 races to do well; we've had three.

"Still, we're going into The Winston with a lot of enthusiasm. The way this race has worked out in the past, it is anybody's to win," Wallace said. "Nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain - it's going to be a heck of a race."

Preen, America's leading weed preventer for lawns and gardens, has sponsored Andy Petree Racing in two previous NASCAR events. A product of Greenview, the consumer products division of Lebanon Seaboard Corporation, Preen was on Petree's Truck at Martinsville, Va., Saturday, Apr. 13, in a race which saw Petree run second for a long time and in the top 10 throughout the race until late in the event. Preen sponsored Wallace behind the wheel of the Talladega 500 on Apr. 21.

"Preen is excited about being a part of the sport and they have had a ball so far," Petree said. "Giving them an opportunity to be part of our All-Star Game means a lot to them, and we're glad we can do that. There weren't a whole lot of multi-car teams with multi-car wins last season, and it says a lot about Andy Petree Racing that we were one of the few. That win at Rockingham last year put us in The Winston this year with the Preen Chevrolet, and Bobby Hamilton's win at Talladega put us in The Winston this year with the Schneider Electric Chevrolet.

"We're still looking to put things together with a corporation and to put a sponsor on this #33 car full time," Petree added. "We've talked with a lot of people and we've seen a lot of interest but until we have something locked down, we're going to keep looking and working in that direction.

"We know we can win. We have proven we can win," Petree said. "We want to get a winner on board with us too."

Preen is certainly among the winners who have shown corporate interest in Andy Petree Racing. New Preen For Lawns was launched this Spring. It kills weeds and even fertilizes up to four months, twice as long as traditional fertilizers. The only product of its kind that effectively kills and prevents weeds in one step, it is found at neighborhood garden
and hardware centers. Preen 'N Green For Gardens is endorsed by the American Rose Society.
