TNT Takes TBS Events

Seven Winston Cup Series and 13 Busch Series races, originally scheduled to air on TBS Superstation later this year, have been moved to TBS’ sister station, Turner Network Television (TNT).

The races were originally part of the new consolidated television package between NBC and Turner Sports. TNT, a part of Turner Broadcasting System, is seen in 81.6 million homes.

The 2001 TNT schedule begins with the July 8 Busch Series race at Watkins Glen International and the July 22 Winston Cup Series race from New Hampshire International Speedway. NBC’s Winston Cup and Busch Series programming schedule will not be affected.

According to TNT, the network and NASCAR share many of the same audiences, including adults 25-54 and the male-female ratio is practically identical with NASCAR’s 60-40 and TNT's 50-50.
