Mark Tutor, who was a part-time crew chief in 2000 for retiring veteran Darrell Waltrip, has been named as crew chief for the new No. 44 Georgia-Pacific Dodge and driver Buckshot Jones.
Tutor, 38, has worked with such teams as Cale Yarborough Motorsports, Robby Gordon Racing and Loy Allen Motorsports.
"It might be like culture-shock or something, I don’t know, moving from working with a guy with a ton of experience like Darrell to a guy with a ton of potential like Buckshot," says Kyle Petty, CEO of Petty Enterprises. "Mark is going to be a great addition to our race team, not just from the aspect of the No. 44, but for all parts of Petty Enterprises."
"I really get along great with (fellow crew chiefs) Greg Steadman and Chris Hussey, and the guys at Petty Enterprises and things are moving ahead," says Tutor. "I believe we’re going to have a good year with Buckshot and the new Dodge, and we’re going to make Georgia-Pacific pretty happy."
For the 2001 NASCAR Winston Cup season, all three Petty drivers will race Dodges. Petty will drive the No. 45 Sprint Dodge, while John Andretti will handle the No. 43 Cheerios Dodge.
