NAPA 500 Coverage

HAMPTON, Ga. - From the break of dawn, with heavy rain showers pelting Atlanta Motor Speedway, it was pretty evident that Sunday was going to be a wasted afternoon at the track.

Instead of wrapping up the end of the 2000 NASCAR Winston Cup Series season at the 1.54-mile Georgia track, it was a day spent in anticipation as the heavy rain fell and fell, eventually forcing NASCAR to announce that the NAPA 500 will be started - weather permitting - at 10:15 a.m. (ET) Monday.

Three-time Winston Cup champion Darrell Waltrip will have to wait at least another day before he makes the final Winston Cup start of his illustrious career.

When the green flag is finally thrown Monday, Jeff Gordon will lead the 43-car field to the start of the final race of the season.

The ARCA Series race, originally scheduled for Saturday, will run after the Winston Cup event.
