Hamilton Jr Gets Second Cup Run

On Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Bobby Hamilton Jr. made his debut in the Winston Cup Series.

If he qualifies for the event, Hamilton Jr. will make start No. 2 this weekend in Atlanta.

Team SABCO is giving Hamilton Jr. the opportunity to compete as he will steer the No. 01 Coors Light Chevrolet in the season finale NAPA 500.

Wanting to keep a more experienced driver in the sponsor’s (BellSouth) home market, Team SABCO chose veteran Sterling Marlin - who usually steers the Coors Light machine - to wheel the No. 40 BellSouth/Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Chevrolet entry.

Hamilton Jr. - a Busch Series regular this year - started 30th and finished 33rd (six laps down) in his Cup debut. He finished the Busch Series season 19th in points with one Top 5 and three Top 10s.
