Parrott Flies PPI Coop

Like a square peg in a round hole, Brad Parrott just wasn't a good fit with the PPI Motorsports team, and the young crew chief has officially left the Winston Cup program there.

Parrott, who became crew chief of the No. 32 team with driver Scott Pruett earlier this year, wasn't with the team at Charlotte last week and now says he's looking for other opportunities outside of PPI Motorsports.

PPI has named Scott Houston, who served as the interim crew chief on the No. 32 Tide Ford this past weekend, the team's new leader in the pits.

"Brad has made a number of substantial contributions to the team, and we would have liked to retain him in a consulting capacity for our two-car program," said team owner Cal Wells III. "Ultimately, our plans for the roles and responsibilities of a crew chief on this team did not quite fit together. With his ability and motivation, I know Brad will find a better fit with another program and we wish him all the best."

Houston, 35, has worked as an engineering liaison for PPI for the past year.

Brother to newly announced PPI Winston Cup driver Andy Houston - and son of legendary Busch Series competitor Tommy Houston - Scott grew up working on stock cars and served as crew chief on his father's successful Busch Series efforts for 11 years.
