They Want Their MTV
September 21, 2000 | 12:00 A.M. EST
Whatever the term may be, MTV – that’s the popular Music Television station for those of you either living in a closet or too old to care – has decided to do a documentary on what it’s like to be a NASCAR driver, and they’ve chosen young stars Casey Atwood and Dale Earnhardt Jr. as their subjects.
The documentary will be called, "MTV True Life: I am a race car driver," and will include footage shot throughout the remainder of the 2000 season.
Atwood – who drives the No. 27 Castrol car in the Busch Series and has signed with Evernham Motorsports to drive it’s Dodges next season – and Earnhardt Jr., are two of the most promising young drivers in the business.
Earnhardt Jr. may have been a perfect choice by MTV as he writes and plays in a band called “Bridge,” has been featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, has disco lights in the basement of his home, and has a stereo system in his car that would likely make the most die-hard headbanger slap in some earplugs.
