Green Steps In For Elliott Burton For Mclaughlin

Elliott, who fractured his left kneecap last week while doing yard work, has brought in Busch Series regular David Green as his driving replacement for Sunday’s Southern 500.
Another driver out this weekend is Busch Series regular Mike McLaughlin. Ward Burton will step into the No. 48 Goulds Pumps Chevy on Saturday as a replacement for McLaughlin, who is spending the weekend at home in New York with his ill father.
Green qualified 26th and finished 36th as a fill-in for Elliott last weekend at Bristol. He was involved in an accident on Lap 417 of the 500-lap event.
Elliott is on a physical therapy program near his home in Blairsville, Ala., but while he’s at the track, he’ll receive therapy from the Wake Forest medical unit (which is provided by the Motor Racing Outreach program).
There has been no decision made as to whether Elliott will be able to compete in next weekend’s event at Richmond International Raceway.
