The Two Jeffs Try For Record In New Hampshire

LOUDEN, N.H. -- NASCAR Winston Cup drivers Jeff Burton and Jeff Gordon are waiting for their chance to break multiple records at New Hampshire International Speedway on Sunday July 9.

With three NHIS Winston Cup wins apiece, both Gordon and Burton will attempt to be the first Winston Cup driver to record four victories at the "The Magic Mile" during the New England 300. Not only can one NHIS record be broken during the New England 300 weekend, but both Jeff's also have the opportunity to break individual records as well.

All Gordon has to do is start his No. 24 Dupont Automotive Finishes Chevrolet in the New England 300 and he will become the first driver to ever surpass the million-dollar mark in career earnings at NHIS. "This track is great," said Gordon. "They work hard to make sure that the surface is suitable."

Burton and crew chief, New Hampshire native, Frank Stoddard, also have proven race day success at NHIS. If Burton puts his No. 99 Exide Batteries Ford in victory lane on July 9, he will become the first Winston Cup driver to notch four consecutive NHIS July wins.

"We've been really good at New Hampshire, but we have been lucky as well," said Burton. "We just need to keep putting ourselves in a position to win. I know it'll be tough but we're gonna give it our best to try and get four in a row."

Advance tickets are available for the NASCAR Featherlite Modified 100, NASCAR Busch North 100 and NASCAR Craftsman Truck 200 by calling Speedway Guest Services at (603) 783-4931, or by visiting the Speedway's web site to purchase tickets online. Tickets will also be available at the gate on race day for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday events.
