Schrader To Drive 500 Laps At New Hampshire

LOUDEN, N.H. -- NASCAR Winston Cup star Ken Schrader will be making only his second appearance in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this season at the New Hampshire International Speedway.

Schrader will drive his No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series 200 on Saturday, July 8. Ken will then jump into his NASCAR Winston Cup No. 36 M&M’s Pontiac to compete in the New England 300 on Sunday, July 9.

The additional seat time in the Craftsman Truck race will provide Schrader with extra confidence going into Sunday’s New England 300.

"Driving in the truck race not only gives me an edge for Sunday but it gives me the opportunity to race with guys I don’t normally compete against," Schrader said. "I get so busy with Winston Cup obligations, there’s little time to race in other series."

A win in either the Craftsman Truck or Winston Cup Series would give Schrader’s New England fans a reason to celebrate. In fact, few drivers have achieved the popularity that the Missouri native has enjoyed throughout his 17-year Winston Cup career.

"I hope to capture a win here in New England where the fans have always supported me," said Schrader.

Schrader’s weekend at "The Magic Mile" will see him compete in 500 laps against some of NASCAR’s top competitors.
