CONCORD, N.C. - Dakoda Armstrong has signed a multi-year contract with Richard Petty Motorsports to drive the No. 43 Ford in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
Primary sponsorship will come from WinField seed and crop protection products, which supported Armstrong during his tenure with Turn One Racing and Richard Childress Racing. Phillippe Lopez will return as crew chief of the No. 43 RPM team.
Armstrong, 22, competed in the 2013 Camping World Truck Series and placed 12th in the final standings. His best finish in 22 starts was fifth at Talladega Superspeedway. He also drove in six Nationwide Series races with a best finish of 13th in the fall race at Kentucky Speedway.
"We want to win races for 'The King,' " Armstrong said. "I'm ready to take the next step in my career and RPM is an organization where I believe I can make that happen. Our team and sponsors are as committed to winning as I am."
Armstrong replaces Michael Annett, who finished 15th in this year's Nationwide Series standings.
"Dakoda has grown up in the sport and paid his dues," said team owner Richard Petty. "He has proven himself at every level and we will give him the tools he needs to be successful in the Nationwide Series. I believe he can win races for us."
Armstrong has a strong open-wheel and stock car racing background, having competed in the United States Auto Club Midget and Sprint Series before graduating to the ARCA Racing Series, where he won three races.
