Kyle Busch topped the two sessions in his No. 18B Toyota with a lap of 182.556 mph.
"I think the important thing is the feedback I can give him," said Busch of working with new crew chief Jason Radcliff. "At these tests, we can utilize telemetry on the cars, and it's important for my feedback to match up with what they're seeing on the computers with the engineers."
Dario Franchitti, Robert Richardson, Johnny Sauter and Kevin Harvick rounded out the afternoon session's top five.
Sauter led the morning group with a lap of 179.076 mph.
The morning session was delayed 45 minutes due to the misty weather and was extended a half-hour until 12:30 p.m. (ET).
Preseason Thunder for the Nationwide Series continues at Daytona on Saturday.
