William Byron won Friday night's Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway while Johnny Sauter took home his first Camping World Truck Series championship with a third-place finish.

Byron led six times for 31 laps en route to his seventh win of the season - the most ever by a Rookie of the Year contender in the three NASCAR National Touring Series. The victory also secured the fifth owners championship for Kyle Busch Motorsports.

“This team’s worked so hard all year," Byron said. "Every single person is so talented. Sometimes I look around the garage and our pit stall and I just think about all the good people on our race team led by Rudy (Fugle, crew chief) and just an awesome truck that we brought to Homestead. We would have loved to be in the driver’s championship, but it feels awesome to get a seventh win for this team. It’s just amazing.”

Byron, who will race for JR Motorsports next season in the XFINITY Series took the win over Tyler Reddick, who announced earlier today that he will join Chip Ganassi Racing's XFINITY team.

Sauter started the race in 19th and was the best of the four Chasers in only the final 16 laps after he got by Matt Crafton. The 38-year-old from Necedah, Wis. became the 15th different driver to win a NCWTS Championship in the 22nd season.

“I just ran a smart race,” Sauter said. “I’m not going to lie when we qualified as poorly as we did today I thought this was going to be tough to do because you’ve got to take tires here on every pit stop. There is not real easy way to get track position, so I knew we were going to have to do it by pit stops and passing people. I just can’t thank everybody at GMS Racing, Allegiant Travel and Chevrolet, ECR horsepower, this is awesome. To be a champion, I’m speechless.” (Read More)

Kyle Larson, who led a race-high 76 laps, finished fourth with Daniel Hemric rounding out the top five.

The remaining Championship 4 drivers: Matt Crafton, Christopher Bell and Timothy Peters finished seventh through ninth, respectively. Crafton led three times for 10 laps.

"We were just really bad on that last run for whatever reason," Crafton said. "We just went the wrong way for whatever reason. It just got really tight on that last run. The run before that was just a little bit free, and on that last run it just got really tight on entry."
