MOORESVILLE, N.C. - Turner Scott Motorsports announced Monday that Ben Rhodes will run five NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races this season in its No. 32 Chevrolet.
The first of those will come this week in Saturday's Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway, with sponsorship from Alpha Energy Solutions. Rhodes, 17, is currently competing full-time for TSM in the K&N Pro Series East, one of NASCAR's top developmental tours. He's notched three poles and a race win in his four starts thus far in 2014.
Rhodes, a member of the 2013 "NASCAR Next" class - a select group of the sport's rising stars chosen by the sanctioning body, claimed his first K&N Pro Series win just two days ago at Greenville-Pickens Speedway.
"I can't thank (team owners) Harry Scott and Steve Turner enough for giving me this chance to gain valuable experience behind the wheel of one of the best rides in the Truck Series," Rhodes said. "I'm excited to start off at Martinsville since I've got short-track experience and plan to carry momentum from my K&N win over to the No. 32 truck."
Rhodes will be under the direction of three-time NCWTS championship-winning crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. throughout his five races - which are scheduled for Martinsville this week and again in October, Dover, Bristol and Phoenix International Raceway.
"Ben is a talented, deserving driver," Scott said. "I've enjoyed watching him grow as a racer as well as a young ambassador of the sport. He's a pleasure to work with and I look forward to his continued success within our organization."
Motor Racing Network - "The Voice of NASCAR" - will have live coverage of Saturday's Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway starting at 2 p.m. (ET), with live streaming at MRN.com.
