HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Cale Gale edged Kyle Busch in a photo finish to win Friday night's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway while James Buescher claimed the series championship.

Gale scored a thrilling first career series win edging Busch at the finish line by a mere .0014-seconds to become the 16th different winner of the season. Gale also was the ninth driver to score their initial career victory in 2012 with both marks series records.

“I can tell you right now coming off four that’s not my driving style, but it’s my first chance to taste NASCAR victory lane, and I know it’s Kyle Busch, and I don’t get opportunities like this very often,” Gale said. “I had to take it while I could.

“It’s just a dream come true for all of us. I’m just a racer from South Alabama.”

Busch had a different view of the finish.

“I got drove into the fence,” said Busch, when asked to describe what happened in the race to the checkered flag with Gale.

Joey Coulter, Nelson Piquet Jr. and Miguel Paludo rounded out the top five.

Johnny Sauter, Parker Kligerman, Timothy Peters, Justin Lofton and Ross Chastain completed the first ten finishers.

Buescher was able to finish 13th to take the series title for Turner Motorsports. Buescher won four times this season on his way to bringing the Turner team its first-ever NASCAR championship.

His closest title contender Ty Dillon, who at one point of the race had moved to within one point of the lead, was knocked from contention in a late race accident.

“It was close. Ty was giving us a run for it,” Buescher said. “I just about went in the fence myself but I held it together and everything came our way.

“It’s been a long season. This truck has won us four races this season and now it’s won us a championship. We had a shot at it last year and we came into this season swinging.”

Rookie Kyle Larson tried to make a move inside Dillon racing for position through turns three and four but made contact sending both trucks on a wild spin. Ryan Blaney got clipped by the disabled trucks and crashed hard into the wall bringing out the red flag.

“It’s one of the worst hits when you get clipped like that,” said Blaney. “You don’t think you’re going to get clipped. We struggled a little bit all night and just really couldn’t find speed but I really wish we could have at least finished. I think we could have wrestled a decent finish out of it.”

Dillon was disappointed with how his season finished but chalked up the experience to hard racing.

"I'm not blaming (Larson) for what happened,” said Dillon, who was credited with a 25th place finish. “It's just a racing move. Probably could have been avoided with patience from both sides."

That set up the green-white-checkered finish with Busch in the top spot. But Gale was able to pull even as the white flag flew and the duo raced side-by-side to the finish line for the dramatic ending.

There were 11 lead changes among seven different drivers in a race that was slowed by five cautions for 23 laps.

Buescher wound up beating Timothy Peters by six points to claim the crown. He will officially be celebrated as the 2012 Camping World Truck Series champion at Monday night’s awards banquet in Miami.
