Kyle Busch got around Ron Hornaday with two laps to go and went on to win Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Bully Hill Vineyards 200 at Nashville Superspeedway.

Busch had dominated most of the race around the 1.33-mile concrete oval but had to get by four-time series champion Hornaday after the night’s final restart to claim his 26th career series win in 89 starts.

“This truck was pretty much right on all night until the end,” said Busch who had to switch to a back-up battery in the closing laps when his original failed. “That old man (Hornaday) can still get it done there on restarts and we had a good battle. Just really happy with another win here in Nashville.”

It was Busch’s 93rd career win across NASCAR’s top three divisions and his seventh of 2011. He surpassed the 20,000 laps led mark combined in the Camping World Truck, Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series on Friday night.

Busch started from the pole and was able to score back-to-back wins in Nashville with his second win of the season. Busch and Johnny Benson are the only two drivers with repeat wins at Nashville.

Hornaday had wrestled the lead away from Busch on the previous restart with nine laps to go but he wasn’t able to maintain the top spot on the fateful last return to green flag racing.

“That was a great battle with Kyle and we just couldn’t get it done that final time around,” said Hornaday, who scored his fourth straight Top 5 finish with a fourth place run. “He’s tough on those restarts and was hoping I could hold him off but we’ll take this and it was a good run for Kevin Harvick Inc.

Hornaday’s KHI teammate Nelson Piquet Jr. was able to slip by to score a career-best second place run.

“We’ve had to overcome such a tough start to the season,” said the former Formula One driver. “This is just a great effort by this team and to get this finish is really special.”

Timothy Peters followed Piquet Jr. across the finish line with Hornaday and James Buescher completing the first five.

Thorsport Racing teammates Matt Crafton and Johnny Sauter finished sixth and seventh with David Starr, Craig Goess and Parker Kligerman rounding out the top ten.

Sauter maintains his series point lead by three over Peters with Crafton four out and Hornaday five behind.

The Nationwide Series will take center stage Saturday afternoon in Nashville as Busch shoots for a weekend sweep.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series now heads to Dover International Speedway on Friday, May 13.
