KHI Hopes for More Martinsville Success

After sweeping the two NASCAR Camping World Truck events at Martinsville Speedway in 2010, Kevin Harvick Inc. drivers Ron Hornaday Jr. and Kevin Harvick are looking for a similar result this year starting with this weekend's Kroger 250.

Defending race winner Harvick, will climb into the driver's seat of his team's No. 2 Chevy for the first time this season. He'd like to be the driver celebrating in victory lane again, for the third consecutive time in the spring at the track.

"Between Ron Hornaday and myself, we swept both races last season. It'd be really cool to do that again this year," he said. "I'm looking forward to getting into the No. 2 truck this weekend and hopefully get to victory lane for a third win in a row there."

In addition to his two victories at the track, Harvick has five top-five and six top-10 finishes in 11 starts. He has led 233 laps - the most for any driver with 11 or fewer starts.

If Harvick is unable to visit victory lane as a driver, he still may be celebrating there as an owner if Hornaday beats him to the checkered flag.

Hornaday captured his first win at the track in 17 starts last fall. In the two spring events prior, he finished runner-up to his boss.

He may have a slight advantage over his boss this year in the short-track battle, as Hornaday will be piloting Harvick's winning chassis from last year when the field hits the track this weekend.

"With a win under my belt at Martinsville, I have a lot of confidence coming into this weekend. We have the defending race-winning chassis, and with the way my No. 33 crew has been performing on pit road and Jeff Hensley on the box, we are definitely the ones to beat," Hornaday said.

Even though he's confident of his team's chances, Hornaday knows that the victory isn't signed, sealed and delivered yet.

"Martinsville is a track where anything can happen," he said.

Although anything can happen, Hornaday has enought experience under his belt to know the right way in getting around the track.

"It's not so much how well you race but how well you can escape," he said. "There is a lot of beating and banging amongst the trucks at Martinsville. If you are able to keep your truck out in front and away from the wreckage, you have a good chance at a solid finish."

The Kroger 250 takes the green flag at 2 p.m. (ET) on Saturday, April 2. Live radio coverage of the event can be heard on Motor Racing Network beginning at 1:45 p.m.
