Mcmurray Trucks To Pole

RICHMOND, Va. - In his first start in a NASCAR Craftsman Truck since 2000, Nextel Cup driver Jamie McMurray grabbed the pole for tonight's Kroger 200 at Richmond International Raceway.

Driving the Ultra Motorsports No. 2 Team ASE/CARQUEST Dodge, McMurray set a new track record after he circled the .75-mile oval in 21.525 seconds at 125.436 mph.

It was McMurray's third career Truck Series pole. He also won pole awards at the Michigan Speedway and Nashville Speedway USA in 2000.

Ted Musgrave, Todd Bodine, David Reutimann and Jack Sprague rounded out the top-five qualifiers.

Tony Stewart, who is shooting for his third-straight truck win at RIR, will start 10th.

Point leader Bobby Hamilton will roll off 24th in the Square D Dodge.

The Kroger 200 is scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. (ET) live on SPEED. This is the 10th time the series has raced at Richmond. The first race was held in 1995.
