The return of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East circuit to South Boston Speedway Saturday night after a six-year absence was an exciting one, as Travis Miller of Chesapeake, Virginia and Harrison Burton of Huntersville, North Carolina split wins in the whosyourdriver.org Twin 100s.

Miller picked up his first career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East win in the first of the night’s pair of 100-lap races, starting third and taking the lead from 17-year-old Tuscaloosa, Alabama resident Chase Purdy on a restart on lap 59. He led the final 60 laps, holding off Purdy as Purdy made a last-chance bid for the win as the pair sped off of the fourth turn heading to the checkered flag.

Miller’s margin of victory over Purdy was .116-second.

NASCAR Next driver Todd Gilliland of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina finished third after having to rally from the rear of the field. Gilliland crashed with J.P. Morgan halfway through the race and had to start at the rear of the field after being penalized for pitting too soon when the caution flag was brought out for the mishap.

Dillon Bassett of Winston-Salem, North Carolina finished fourth and Burton finished fifth.

Burton, the son of South Boston, Virginia native and former NASCAR Cup Series driver Jeff Burton, won the nightcap of the whosyourdriver.org Twin 100s, fending off Gilliland over the last two laps after race leader Purdy was black-flagged by NASCAR officials for jumping the race’s final restart that came with three laps to go.

After Purdy received the black flag, Gilliland got the lead with two laps to go, but Burton battled Gilliland hard, taking the lead from Gilliland as the pair took the white flag for the final lap. Once in front, Burton was able to hang on to win the race and score his second win in his last three NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Races.

Vinnie Miller of Metamora, Michigan, Chase Cabre of Tampa, Florida and Ruben Garcia Jr. of Mexico City, Mexico rounded out the top five finishers.

Burton averaged 66.299 mph in winning his second NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race of the season.

The first WhosYourDriver.org Twin 100 will air on NBCSN Thursday, May 11 at 7 p.m. ET.

The second WhosYourDriver.org Twin 100 will begin at 9 p.m. ET.
