Patrick Signs With Andretti

Danica Patrick's future will remain in Indy Car racing.

Patrick's plans became clear on Tuesday when she announced she would stay in the Indy Racing League and drive for Andretti-Green Racing beginning in 2007.

The news ended much speculation about Patrick's next move, which might have included NASCAR.

She instead will leave the Rahal-Letterman team for Andretti-Green, joining current rookie sensation Marco Andretti among others.

"Danica has shown great talent during her first two seasons in the IndyCar Series," CEO Michael Andretti said. "Our focus has been and always will be on winning races and winning championships. We certainly believe Danica will do that. She has made it very clear that one of her goals as a driver is to win the Indianapolis 500 and we are looking forward to giving her a great opportunity to do that."

AGR intends to field a four car effort again next season with Patrick, Marco Andretti and Tony Kanaan confirmed. There have been reports that current drivers Dario Franchitti and Bryan Herta will not be brought back and a fourth new teammate will be introduced.

However there are also reports the duo will drive for AGR's Acura effort in the American LeMans Series.

"Today is an exciting day for everyone at Andretti Green Racing," team co-owner Michael Andretti said in the statement. "Danica has shown great talent during her first two seasons in the IndyCar Series and has impressed Kim [Green], Kevin [Savoree] and myself with her development as a driver."
