INDIANAPOLIS - Danica Patrick generated even more attention on Friday as the rookie driver topped the speed charts during "Carb Day," the final practice for Sunday's 89th Indianapolis 500.

Patrick posted a fast lap of 225.597 mph during the one-hour window on the 2.5-mile oval. She also recorded the fastest overall lap (229.880 mph) of the month.

"We weren't trying to come out here and be the fastest, but it's always good to be," she said. "It's good for confidence, and it's good to see that your car can do it, especially having downforce on the car now as opposed to qualifying conditions."

Pole sitter Tony Kannan was secondfastest on Friday in the Andretti-Green Racing 7-Eleven entry.

"There were a lot of people trying to look good by posting big speeds with tows, but we just did our thing," said Kanaan. "The Team 7-Eleven car was second fastest and I had a tow. But I also got a good feel for the car. But who cares who was first or second on Carb Day? We'll not remember that on Sunday. As long as we feel good about the car, and I feel very good about the Team 7-Eleven car."

Kanaan's Andretti Green Racing teammate and IndyCar Series points leader Dan Wheldon was third (225.262) and Sam Hornish Jr., who will start in the middle of the front row, was fourth (225.003).
