Castroneves On Chicago Pole

JOLIET, Ill. - Helio Castroneves put his Marlboro Toyota on the pole for a second consecutive race in qualifying for Sunday's IRL IndyCar Series Delphi Indy 300 at the Chicagoland Speedway. The pole is the third of the season for Castroneves.

Castroneves, who was 16th in the qualifying line, posted a fast lap of 214.759 mph for the top spot.

"Marlboro Team Penske worked really hard to make sure that we covered all the areas," said Castroneves. "I have to also mention Toyota. They've been working very hard through the season to catch those Hondas and Chevy."

Second through fifth were Honda-powered teams: Series point leader Tony Kanaan followed by Indy 500 winner Buddy Rice, and Kanaan's teammates Dario Franchitti and Dan Wheldon.

A.J. Foyt IV qualified sixth in the No. 14 Conseco machine. The 213.023 mph run in the Toyota-powered Dallara is the best qualifying run to date for the 20-year-old who is in his second year of IRL IndyCar Series competition.

Sam Hornish Jr., Vitor Meira, Bryan Herta and Adrian Fernandez completed the top-ten qualifiers.

The Delphi Indy 300 will be televised live Sunday afternoon on ABC starting at 1:30 (ET).
