Kanaan Climbs Speed Chart

INDIANAPOLIS - Tony Kanaan, driver of the No. 11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda posted the fastest speed on Wednesday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. His speed of 222.668 mph also stands as the best speed recorded at the Speedway since practice opened on Sunday.

"I've got a good car in my hands," said Kanaan, who started second and finished third in last year's Indianapolis 500. "But, I also got a good draft on that fast lap, so I don't want anybody to be fooled. I’m just happy because I'm starting to like the way the Team 7-Eleven car feels. But, today is not the important day. I can love my car today and hate it tomorrow. That is what this place can do to you. We'll get back to it tomorrow, be patient and just think about what changes we want to make as we get closer to Saturday."

Dan Wheldon, the IndyCar Series’ most recent winner, was second in the session.

"I think this place can make you chase it sometimes," said Whelson. "I think everyone wanted to make sure today was a good day. We had sort of a disappointing day yesterday and obviously there is a set plan we have to work through."
