Motegi Qualifying Rained Out

Scott Dixon will start from the pole for the Indy Japan 300 after heavy rain washed out MBNA Pole Qualifying today at Twin Ring Motegi. Just six cars completed their qualifying runs before rain arrived at the 1.5-mile oval.

The starting order was determined by the combined speeds from both practices Friday and this morning's practice. Dixon posted the fastest lap of this event, 206.996 mph, on Friday in the No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Panoz G Force/Toyota/Firestone.

IRL IndyCar Series points leader Tony Kanaan will start second in the No. 11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/Firestone. Kanaan won the MBNA Pole at the first two events of the season, winning from the top spot March 23 at Phoenix.
