Blair Barron Enter Indy

Add another to the growing list of teams that have entered cars for this year’s 86th running of the Indianapolis 500.

Full-time Indy Racing League team Blair Racing filed an entry Thursday for Indy rookie Alex Barron. He will attempt to put Blair’s No. 44 Dallara-Chevy into the 33-car field for the first time.

The team entered an identical primary and backup car. The team also filed an entry for a No. 45 Dallara-Chevy with an identical backup car, No. 45T. No driver has been assigned to that vehicle.

Blair Racing competed in the CART FedEx Championship Series last season but is campaigning Barron in the IRL this season. Barron will see many of his former CART competitors at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May.

Paul Tracy, Michael Andretti and rookie Dario Franchitti, who are all driving for Team Green, have already been entered, and Kenny Brack, Jimmy Vasser and Bruno Junqueira are expected to compete in the race. Also, Roger Penske’s two-car team of Gil de Ferran and Helio Castroneves will enter the race, as they are competing full time in the IRL this season.

The Indy 500 is May 26 at IMS. Entry invitations were mailed Feb. 22, and entries must be postmarked by April 3.
