Longtime Hemelgarn Racing sponsor Coors Light becomes Lazier’s primary sponsor this year, and his No. 91 Dallara-Chevy takes on the company’s Silver Bullet image with a new paint scheme that will make its debut next week.
“We are delighted to have Coors Light continue their support of Hemelgarn Racing, Buddy Lazier and the Indy Racing League,” team owner Ron Hemelgarn said. “We have achieved many victories together, including the 2000 series championship, and I look forward to many years together.”
Lazier won the Indy Racing League title in 2000 and was runner-up last season with four wins. That kind of production pleases Coors chairman Peter H. Coors.
“The Hemelgarn team has done an amazing job providing thrills for all of us at Coors and for our racing fans around the country,” Coors said.
Coors’ relationship with Hemelgarn began in 1998. Last season, the Golden, Colo.-based company was an associate sponsor on Lazier’s car; Tae-Bo was the primary sponsor.
Lazier’s car will reflect the change with new purple-and-silver colors. The silver livery also helps the company celebrate its 25th year at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The new car will make its debut at the Test in the West on Feb. 6 at California Speedway in Fontana, Calif.
Tae-Bo, Delta Faucet and Life Fitness will return to the team as secondary sponsors.
